The Gardens are privately owned and maintained by the Douglas family and their associates, who offer admission to the premises with the aim of sharing the beauty with the general public and fellow nature lovers.
With this acquisition in December 2008, the Botanical Gardens of Nevis were rescued from probable commercial real estate development by other potential buyers. Since then, much effort and expenditure has gone into the management of the living plant collections, restoration of the Rainforest Conservatory, refurbishment of the buildings, water courses, support facilities, as well as on additional features.
The Botanical Gardens are now open again for visitors to enjoy. Proceeds from admission fees, Gardens activities and events, the Galleria Gift Shop and the restaurant go towards maintaining the Gardens in order to keep them open to the public.
Two acres adjoining the Gardens are planned for development with a small number of luxurious residences to support the funding and maintenance of the Gardens.
The Gardens welcome support and expertise from individuals or corporations wishing to offer their time services, or financial aid.
