The collection of orchids at Nevis Botanical Gardens is one of the largest in the Caribbean. The orchid terraces wind their way around the hillside, the beautiful blooms shaded by palms and hanging Spanish Moss (Tillandsia usneoides). The terraces are also home to many varieties of bromeliads, crotons and ferns including the epiphytic Staghorn Fern (Platycerium sp.). As dusk approaches the garden becomes alive to the sound of frogs and bats fly in to roost in the trees.
